That’s why you keep on listening and I want you tell everyone you know about this fabulous show where we get down to the truth of dentistry which is dentistry that is good for your body is the best dentistry for you. Unfortunately, most dentistry is not.
Our telephone line at this — if you want to call in is 866-KPRAISE, 866-577-2473. I’ll only be on the air for the next 25 minutes, so if you want to get in and ask me a question, you want to do that now. We actually have a caller waiting right now.
Hello, this is Dr. Marvin, how can I serve you.
Pamela: Dr. Marvin?
Dr. Marvin: Yes.
Pamela: Hi, this is Pamela.
Dr. Marvin: Hi, Pamela.
Pamela: Hey, you know what, I’m a real sensitive person. And in 2003, I took out 13 silver amalgams.
Dr. Marvin: Good for you.
Pamela: Yes and no. They were replaced with 13 inlays and onlays.
Dr. Marvin: Okay.
Pamela: And now here I am — what? — nine years later and I’ve gone in for my checkup and I’ve got calcified canals, pulpal necrosis, pulp stones calcifications. They say my teeth are like of an 80-year-old and I’m 50. And that I need probably five to seven root canals and one of the teeth they went in and lasered it and did all the stuff. It seems like what they’re saying is I’m a victim of pretty bad dentistry and I’ve got autoimmune and Hashimoto’s. So, now I’m left with either pulling these teeth out or having root canals. And from the research I’ve been doing from your website and other websites, I understand root canals, especially in my compromised health situation, are not the greatest thing to do.
Dr. Marvin: That’s correct.
Pamela: So, now to pull out all seven teeth, the option on that is then what?
Dr. Marvin: Okay, very good question, very unique case. I like to treat each one a case — each case individually on a case-by-case basis. I don’t really support root canals, but I like to know why other dentists do root canals. If they say it’s a, what they call pulpal necrosis or let’s say it’s a dead tooth, or let’s say the nerve is no longer there. You have to ask that question, do I really need to have a root canal? Because dentists diagnose or propose root canals all too often because they have nothing else to do or they have no idea what else to do.
Since you have some underlying problems, you said you have Hashimoto’s and other autoimmune problems—Hashimoto’s is a thyroid issue—we like to figure out what is the root cause of those issues to see if dentistry is that root cause. So, I’m not going to say that you should not do the root canals or you should not pull the tooth out. Let’s get down to the root cause and try to figure out why your teeth are getting calcified and what the true issue is going on inside your mouth. Sometimes it could be poor dentistry. Sometimes it could be nutrition. So, let’s figure something out by asking what is the root cause as opposed to what can we do about it right now. Okay?
Pamela: Correct. Correct. And as a child, I had vitiligo which is also autoimmune.
Dr. Marvin: Okay.
Pamela: And it’s in my hereditary. And then I read your article about using Biocalex and I also have found that they say that you can use Endocal 10.
Dr. Marvin: Yes.
Pamela: And so, one of the issues is that we know that my body’s not absorbing the calcium…
Dr. Marvin: Right.
Pamela: …’cause it’s showing up in my joints and other places. So, it’s just for me right now, it’s mind boggling because I don’t know where to start other than I’ve got [indiscernible] teeth that I was in pain. I found a homeopath who gave me gunpowder which is a remedy and it actually calmed down that pain for right now. But I’m really concerned with now, what do I do going forward?
Dr. Marvin: Yes, one of the most difficult things to do is trying to look at the big picture because the big picture is always more difficult to fix. That’s why a lot of practitioners like to fix the small things, like the symptom that they can cover up the symptom.
Pamela: Right.
Dr. Marvin: But the big picture in your case is pretty complicated and I don’t want to get too detailed without actually first seeing you and getting an interview and looking at your medical history.
Pamela: Okay.
Dr. Marvin: And the only thing I can say right now is, come in for an exam and consult. Let’s take a look exactly at the teeth and the gums, your history and what symptoms you’re having and we can use some of our fancy testing to figuring out should you be doing dentistry first or not? And I’m going to tell you as a practitioner, as a dentist and a business person, I need to put my interest aside and put your interest first and then we have to figure out what we should do first. And I’ll sometimes say, don’t do any dentistry right now because you should be doing this first.
Pamela: Okay.
Dr. Marvin: And going to the right practitioners where they can put their ego aside and decide what’s best for you is very important to find. And I think you’re on the right track. I’m glad you’re taking a look at different materials. But I’m going to tell you, you could be going down one street and then not be able to go back and start over at the first street. So, you’re doing the right research, you’re doing the right and getting the right knowledge and you’re asking the right questions. And the question is that you need to have the right practitioners to help guide you along that route and I’ll be more than happy to help you.
Pamela: Thank you, Dr. Marvin. I really appreciate what you’re saying because exactly what you said I feel like I did a lot of research. I took that biocompatibility test and that dentist still put in materials in my mouth that were on the test saying I shouldn’t have them. You know what I’m saying?
Dr. Marvin: Yes, it’s frustrating.
Pamela: And I’ve heard that that test isn’t necessarily holds true for a long period of time. So, they can put something in and then six months later, you can still be allergic to it.
Dr. Marvin: Yeah, absolutely. That test is not very definitive. That’s why we use a different way to test biocompatibility for individuals. We don’t use that test very often. So, you’re right about that. It’s just that you just have to go to a dentist that understands it a little bit more than other dentists.
Pamela: Okay, great. And you’re in Encinitas?
Dr. Marvin: Encinitas, yeah, we’re in Encinitas, which is about 20 minutes north of downtown, and we get patients that come from all over. Where do you live, Pamela?
Pamela: I’m in Valley Glen which is like the San Fernando Valley.
Dr. Marvin: Okay, yeah.
Pamela: Yeah.
Dr. Marvin: We have people that come from up there that drive down and I got to tell you that first visit is always the most important visit. That treatment visits are important because you’re getting the treatment done, but getting the diagnosis, knowing what to do, when to do it and how to do it is so much more important than actually the treatment itself. So, let’s just make it a priority to get you in and then we’ll do our full exam and do our x-rays and then figure out what’s best for you.
Pamela: Okay. And do you do the treatment?
Dr. Marvin: I do. I do the treatments. We have another doctor in the office, but she does treatments for her own patients. I do treatments for my patients.
Pamela: Okay, great. And if I have no insurance?
Dr. Marvin: That’s okay, we work with you. We have patients without insurance all the time.
Pamela: Okay.
Dr. Marvin: So, yeah we’ll figure out a way to get things done because it’s your health that’s the biggest concern.
Pamela: Alright. Thank you so much.
Dr. Marvin: You’re welcome.
Pamela: Alrighty, I look forward to meeting you.
Dr. Marvin: Oh, I look forward to meeting you, too. Thanks, Pamela.
Pamela: Thank you. Bye bye.
Dr. Marvin: Yeah, we get people from all over with difficult questions. Difficult questions require answers and unfortunately I can’t answer everything on the telephone or on the airways because these things are a lot more complicated. You could hear it in her voice. She’s very interested in figuring out what is best for her and she’s doing the necessary work. She’s taking her energy and time trying to figure out what’s best, but a lot of her practitioners that she’s going to or the advice she’s getting is not meshing with what she believes.
And this is what we’re all about at the Center for Natural Dentistry, Dr. Godes and myself, we try to focus on you as an individual and we’ll put our ego aside and put our personal interests aside so that we can focus on you and treating you as a patient. Very, very important.
If you have a question, if you want to talk with me, if you have a comment, call me right now. It’s 866-KPRAISE, 866-577-2473. Stay tuned until the end of the show where I always give a pretty good special that a lot of you listeners take advantage of. Stay tuned until the end of the show. I’ll go and give you the number at the end of the show, it’s our office number. If you know that right now, you can surely call that if you want to schedule an appointment.
No one is answering the calls today. I actually taking care of the kids today and the person that takes care of my calls is actually taking care of my kids this morning. So, she won’t be able to answer the calls. But during the end of the show when I release our special, you can call and leave us a message and we will number the calls. And if you leave your name and telephone number and we’ll surely to get back to you when we get back on Monday or Tuesday.
Now, let me to remind people that we do have a website. It’s called trynaturaldentistry.com. You can call our office 760-536-1199. Call during office hours and we will answer a lot of questions and get you scheduled and taken cared of. Because one thing I want you to focus on and I heard it in the last show with Dr. Jamie Kaszer talked about it. Your health is your biggest asset. It’s not your home, it’s not your car, it’s not your job, it’s your health.
And even you may think that your kids are your biggest asset; no, your health because your kids need you. So, don’t put your health on the backburner. Do whatever you can to get your health back on track. And last week, I talked about an upside-down mouth. If you spent a lot of money in your mouth and you still have problems, that is not a reason for you to not seek answers to those problems.
I have a lot of patients that come in. They say I’ve maximized my insurance. I spent all my money on these crowns and then they come in, they still have problems and I find out that the crowns that they had put in are not good for them. It’s not compatible with them. It’s causing them problems. And they don’t like to hear that, but all I got to say is we’re looking at now and also into the future. Your health is your biggest concern. I’m here uncovering or becoming a detective to figure out what’s going on.
So, if you want to take care of your problems and not just procrastinate and not just out of sight, out of mind, if you want to take a more proactive approach for your health and so that you can be on this earth longer, then come visit me, figure out what’s going on inside your mouth. Let’s see if there’s something going on inside your mouth. Not all the time do people come in and if they have anything in their mouth cause their problems.
I had a patient that came in this past week and all we did was adjust the bite and I didn’t see anything else that was going on inside his mouth that is giving him other health problems. Now, he does have other health problems, but it has nothing to do with the mouth. So we’re going to need to tell you the truth; you can trust us to give you only what is necessary and that’s what I really want you to focus on.
You’re listening to Let’s Talk Dentistry with Dr. Marvin. We are here live here in San Diego. I have an office here in San Diego that focus on more natural dentistry, dentistry that’s good for your health, not just good for your teeth. Don’t look at your dentist as a mechanic because that’s how they see themselves. They see themselves as a fix it — problem with the tooth, fix it and then you’re on your way. That’s not how we do things here.
The way that we do things at the Center for Natural Dentistry, we sit down, we talk, we listen, we explain. We go through our advanced ways of figuring out how we get your body into tiptop shape by removing toxins from your mouth. Toxins such as oral cancers, such as gum disease, such as cavities, such as root canals, such as infections, such as fillings or crowns or bridges or implants that you specifically or you personally are not good with.
Some people can be good with that stuff, but you could not be. I had a patient that came in yesterday or two days ago. He came from Lakeside, young guy and he put two and two together. He is taking a proactive approach and realizing that he’s having all of these psychological problems that all these psychologists are putting meds, medications for him that he doesn’t want to take because of all the side effects. Yes, he has problems, he has brain fog, he has depression, he has some delirium. All of these problems, but he figured it out they all started when his parents took him and he got mercury amalgam fillings put in around 9 and 10 years old. All of those problems started then.
So, instead of being going to all these doctors and he’s questioning all of them and all of them are saying, that yeah, you have these symptoms, you have these problems, you have to be on these psychiatric meds. This guy is in his mid 20s and he’s doing whatever he can to get rid of it. He’s saving every penny so that he can get his amalgams out.
He did his own research. He went online, found our information online, seeked us out, drove probably 45 minutes to an hour just to get to our place, to get the information, to figure out what it’s going to take in order to get his amalgam mercury fillings safely removed. I love that. I love that. I love patients that take control of their own responsibility. I know that you have problems in your mouth. I know that you had them in the past, but we didn’t know. What we know now is that dentistry can have poisons in it and you need to get them taken cared of and be taken cared of properly. That’s why my patients come from all over the globe in order to see us. Very, very important. If dentistry is important to you, if your health is important to you, if your job is important to you and you want to have the most energy, then come and visit our office.
One more success story before I get into our main topic for today is a patient came in yesterday from Temecula. I’ll just call her a name. Her name is Mary. And she supposedly – she’s very upset. She’s very upset because she went to a dentist that said that they were a biological dentist. In other words, they didn’t place any mercury fillings. But that’s not my definition of biological dentistry. My definition of biological dentistry is doing whatever you can to get healthy and remove the bad things from your mouth biologically, naturally, holistically.
And so what happened was is that she was not informed. She did not ask the right questions and she really took it upon herself that she was upset with herself because she didn’t ask the right questions of the doctor. Do you believe in root canals? He does not believe in mercury fillings, but he believes in root canals that’s done properly.
Well, to make a long story short, she went to – she ended up getting that root canal done on this one tooth, lower left tooth, big tooth. And from that point on, she’s been getting all of these problems. I mean she listed about eight or nine different symptoms, problems with her foot, problem with her elbow, a [glitch in?] her brain, her energy is going down. All of these problems, also she got her root canal done about a year ago. And she asked the dentist, and she goes, “Oh, did you put formaldehyde in my tooth?” What materials did he use?
And you know what the dentist said? He goes, “I understand, but I do not want to find out more about this stuff because I’ll find out that I’m doing stuff wrong and I have to make a change.” Can you believe that? A dentist gets some good information from someone to figure out what’s the best treatment for his patients and he refuses to find out more because he has to change what he does. This isn’t rare; this is very common out there. And I’m going to tell you that I stick my neck out for my patients, for people like you listening right now in order to get the best dentistry available — dentistry that’s good for your health. I want to get you better. And I can’t say that hard enough or more often or as many times as I can. I want you to get better and I’ll do whatever I can to get you better because that is part of me – I’m very passionate about what I do.
So, subsequently, we took out the root canal the same day and we tested her. She was testing badly for the root canal and also there was an infection. This is amazing and this is becoming commonplace in my office and that I’m not even amazed anymore. We took out the tooth and we took out the bone that’s surrounding the end of the tooth which was infected and it was large. I think the cavity or the hole in the jawbone where the infection was anywhere between centimeter by centimeter big. So, it was a huge hole. I even put up a mirror that showed her and all that infection went away. And you know what, she felt better instantly. That was her word, she’s like, I felt better instantly. We tested her elbows and her foot and all this stuff. She felt great because this infection was indeed larger than what we saw on the x-ray.
So, x-rays are great tools. We also do some other testing to check, but when we actually get in there, she was so happy. We saw the crown that was put in. She was not doing the crown. We saw the filling material that were in the root canals. Those were not good and we drilled out all the infected bone and I am so happy to say that she is feeling a whole lot better instantly. Now, this is not – this is not a miracle. This is just understanding that toxins in your body specifically in your mouth and jaw can cause problems elsewhere in your body. Extremely, extremely important.
Hello, this is Dr. Marvin, how can I serve you? Hello? Hello? Hello? Okay, I guess that person is not there.
One topic that I want to get to today, if you have sensitive teeth, you need to listen up right now, because just yesterday, I get a lot of my topics from my patients. Just yesterday, we had a patient that we had done a biocompatible onlay or a biocompatible filling on someone. We went ahead and delivered it and we adjusted the bite, that’s one of the things that’s common in dentistry, you adjust the bite on the restorations, but there was another tooth that started to give her problems.
And so we don’t want to just adjust the bite and adjust the teeth all the way around because when you do that, you shave away good healthy enamel or restorations. Now, you don’t want to change the jaw. But when this person – she had a lot of sensitivity. Now, there are many reasons why you can have sensitive teeth. But one of the best ways to desensitize teeth so that you can drink water, you can drink regular water or drink cold water, you can eat foods is to desensitize them. And one of the most amazing ways that we have technology that we’ve utilized lately was oxygen ozone therapy and it’s amazing. It works instantly.
So, what we did is – what we did about a five-minute treatment of this therapy on the tooth and we also re-mineralized the tooth because teeth are made out of minerals just like the bones in your body. We went ahead and re-mineralized the tooth and instantly felt better. We’re using this oxygen ozone machine for about, I don’t know, eight or nine months and we probably used it about three or four times a day to desensitize teeth. I can’t tell you how important or how valuable tool this tool is this in our toolbox.
If you have sensitive teeth which I know a lot of you have. If you have sensitive teeth because you’ve had teeth whitening done; if you have sensitive teeth because you had a filling done; if you have a cavity; if you had a crown down; if you had bridges, anything; if you have sensitive teeth; today, that’s what today’s special is all about.
Today’s special for the first three callers, first three callers only. I’ll give you this number. I’ll give you the number right now, 760-536-1199. We’ll give you a free ozone treatment. Free ozone treatment if you schedule a new patient exam. That’s right, we’ll give you a free ozone treatment, ozone oxygen therapy treatment. So we can desensitize your teeth or tooth so that it doesn’t bother you anymore. This is incredible stuff.
I got to tell you that, I probably only know of one other dentist here in San Diego that utilizes this therapy. But it has a lot of good uses. We use it for our root canals. We use it for all of our cavities. We use it for our crowns. We use it for our bridges. We use it for everything and it’s incredible. And so if you want to take advantage of that special, call right now, 760-536-1199 where we’re going to use oxygen ozone therapy to desensitize your teeth so you can eat what you want to eat.
One other thing is that when we deal with sensitivity, you do not have a deficiency in ozone or oxygen. We just really do get down to the root cause and we get down to explaining why you have tooth sensitivity. So, if you have sensitivity and it’s been bugging you for a while, let’s say you’ve been taking Sensodyne toothpaste for a long time. Sensodyne does work in some instances and it also has some products in the toothpaste that actually give you sensitivity and are actually not good for some people such as SLS or lauryl sulfate.
If you want to know what the best toothpaste or what I recommend for best toothpaste, go online, trynaturaldentistry.com and you can find out more information about the toothpaste and you’ll be surprised that I’m not a big fan of many toothpastes out there. You really need to get it checked on which toothpaste is best for you. That’s what we do in our office. When you come in you bring everything with you and we’ll test the products that you use from the mouthwash, even to the floss.
So, one final thing is that everyone always asks what does it costs for our first visit. I’m going to tell you that it’s $149 and I can tell you that’s the best deal around. That is absolutely the best deal around $149 because you don’t spend five minutes with us. Have you ever gone to a dentist that cleaned your teeth and they spend about 5 to 10 minutes with you? No, we spend a long time. We spend about an hour-and-a-half with you up to two hours to explain the treatment, to go over everything and to listen to your concerns.
If you want to schedule those with us, I’m going to tell you the reason that I love my exams is because patients always tell me that they always get things that they’ve never heard before and they’re always surprised at what I tell them. In fact, I’ll give you a guarantee. It’s a no questions asked guarantee, if you go to my exam and you did not feel like it was worth every penny that you had spent, then I’ll give it back to you. You don’t have to pay a cent.
So, schedule that exam with us, 760-536-1199. Call right now and get that free ozone oxygen treatment for those first three callers. Take care. Bye bye now.
